Mr Malcolm Maciver
I undertook my BSc in applied mathematics at the University of St Andrews, graduating in 2009. My particular interest was in the field of magnetohydrodynamics. I graduated from Aston University with a Master of Optometry degree, gaining First Class Honours. I undertook the College of Optometrists Pre-Registration program in independent practice in Hampshire, completing the final assessment on first attempt.
My current role is as a Senior Lecturer and Deputy Course Leader to the University of Portsmouth's Master of Optometry programme. I lecture on the Dispensing and Ophthalmic lenses and Clinical Optometry Skills 1 units and am unit coordinator for the first year unit Foundations of Optical Science.
My areas of interest include Ocular Surface Disease and specialist treatment of blepharitis. I have also been involved in glaucoma diagnosis and monitoring clinics as well as having completed WOPEC’s PEARS acute emergency eye care programme.
I am currently reading for a PhD in the optometric care of brain injured patients.
