Ms Marta Nieto-Garcia
I am a full-time lecturer at Portsmouth Business School since January 2018 and work within the Marketing and Sales subject group. My academic interests relate to two main areas, Marketing and Hospitality. I received my PhD in Business Economics (with a concentration in Marketing) from the Universidad de Salamanca. I also hold a Master degree in Economics and Business Research and BSc in Business Economics from the Universidad de Salamanca.
My research topics are in the areas of consumer decision making, eWOM and pricing. I investigate the role of online information in shaping consumer behaviour. Some of my recent works focus on consumer responses to eWOM in the hospitality industry and online reputation in the sharing economy. My work has been published in leading journals including International Journal of Hospitality Management among others.
I have participated in consultancy projects that investigate tourists’ decisions and behaviour in the context of hotel and holiday home stays. In particular, I have worked in a project for Homeaway Spain since 2014.
My teaching responsibilities include a number of units both at PG and UG level. Currently, I teach Contemporary Issues in Marketing and Strategic Marketing Management at PG level as well as some units in hospitality and business at UG level. I also supervise UG and PG dissertations within the fields of marketing and hospitality. I have previously taught a number of marketing units in Spain.
