ASSESSING THE SHIFTING CHARACTER OF CONTEMPORARY INTERVENTION IN WEST AFRICA (THROUGH THE WEST AFRICA PEACE AND SECURITY NETWORK - WAPSN)

Project: Research

Description

Western interventions in West Africa have been commonplace for centuries. However, West/Central African states are themselves increasingly also intervening in the region as part of internal/external multi-national coalitions. Despite the significance of this issue, these heterogeneous coalitions, their drivers, the distribution of benefits and the impact on conflicts and economic development have received relatively little scholarship. This Faculty Funded Strategic Project leverages the highly-successful West Africa Peace and Security Network (westafricasecuritynetwork.org) to tackle this lacuna.
