Growing Community Heritage: Green space in Portsea
Project: Innovation
- Dr Ann Veronica Coats (PI)
- Ms Belinda Mitchell (CoI)
Description
An interdisciplinary design product which investigates creative practices to reduce conflict between Portsea residents and the University (voiced repeatedly by the Portsea Action Group) whereby students are competing with Portsea residents for accommodation. This research project, blending history, art and built environment disciplines, will create a neighbourhood garden representing the intangible qualities of historic places by exploring cultural heritage, community voices and historical and contemporary issues through textural processes.
Layman's description
A creative project to stimulate intergenerational input into a community garden.
Key findings
Making use of ‘green’ spaces – more seating - a community garden would bring generations together and allow people without gardens to be part of a garden.
