The Little Flower Project was a collaboration between the University of Portsmouth and the National Institute of Fashion and textiles, Chennai, SCS Kothari Academy, Chennai and The Little Flower Convent, Chennai. It was financially supported by The British Council and The University of Portsmouth.

The Little Flower Convent, Chennai India, teaches blind women who would otherwise be destitute, to weave. The beautiful fabric that was woven in India was brought back to the UK where a group of students used it to develop products, this project was then expanded to be a joint project with students from CCi, NIFT Chennai, and SCS Kothari Academy.

Key findings

The products were exhibited at the British Council in Chennai and at Portsmouth City Museum as part of a national Crafts Council exhibition, ‘Well-Fashioned’.
