Using Artificial Intelligence for engineering applications
Project: Research
- Professor David Sanders (PI)
- Dr Alexander Gegov (CoI)
- David Ndzi (CoI)
Description
The project investigated whether artificial intelligence was dangerous or potentially dangerous, and considered the way that decisions can be taken using AI. Finally, Ambient Intelligence and AI was investigated.
New AI tools were created to aid in designing and running sensor systems and for some control engineering applications. Some simple gesture recognition systems were created with AI tools for use in assembly automation.
As part of this project, Nils Bausch completed his PhD in 2014 after studying residential home temperature prediction models that use space conditioning experiments and disparate sources of information. The PhD was directed by G Tewkesbury and supervised by DA Sanders. In addition, G Yang completed his PhD in 2016 after studying rainfall field modelling for European satellite networks. The PhD was directed by D Ndzi and supervised by DA Sanders.
