Using the Future to Discover the Past: Genotyping the Mary Rose Archer
- Dr Maria Cannon (Team Member)
This is a collaborative project, funded by the University TRIF fund, with colleagues in the Science Faculty and the Mary Rose Museum. DNA analysis of some of the human remains in the Mary Rose collection is being carried out, and the findings of this research will be placed into historical and historiographical context. The project has successfully sought funding from the TRIF funding stream at UoP.
Using DNA analysis and bringing current historical knowledge to bear on the the collections of the Mary Rose, this project will help us to reconsider the makeup and the mobility of the population of Tudor England. It will also produce some 'impact' events, including working with school groups, in partnership with the Mary Rose Education and Schools team.
