2016 - Stars in the aisles: the history of the cinema usherette - University of Portsmouth
Research output: Non-textual form › Exhibition
This (invited) exhibition accompanied the international conference, 'Doing Women's Film and Television History III'. This is a unique exploration and this exhibition both questions and highlights the significance of the cinema usherette to both the pleasure of cinema-going, and the cinema organisation, particularly during the 1920s-1950s. The exhibits are drawn from photographs (obtained from archives and personal interviews), oral history testimonies from former cinema usherettes and related cultural objects and ephemera.
