The 17th International Architecture Exhibition will run 23 May to 29 November 2020 (curated by architect and scholar Hashim Sarkis.
The Italian Pavilion will be curated by Dr. Alessandro Melis from the UoP with the theme “Resilient Communities”. The Italian Pavilion has been subdivided in eleven areas with different thematic exhibitions. The Area 11 will be curated by Dario Pedrabissi and will deal with the issue of outdoor comfort conditions in the urban environment. The exhibition is located in the garden outside the Italian Pavilion and comprises of three main installations: The first aims to simulate the micro-climate condition of the urban space (Santucci, Auer, Pedrabissi); The second creates an urban furniture integrated with kinetic systems that works with the movement of the sun (Fallacara); The third installation is a video projection of a workshop realised by LW Circus at the Asinara Island, Sardegna, Italy.
The curatorial project of the Area 11, creates the overarching conceptual theme for the authors and delivers the design of the space.
