Research output: Contribution to journalBook/Film/Article reviewpeer-review

Book details: Richard Nowell (ed.), Merchants of menace: the business of horror cinema. (New York and London: Bloomsbury, 2014), pp. xiv + 264, 8 illus., ISBN 9781623564209 (pbk).

In the introduction of this edited collection, Richard Nowell argues for a new approach to positioning Anglophone horror films as products of industrial dialogues and practices. In order to situate the chapters and sections of the book, he notes the issues regarding extant studies that have focused on content or audiences to the exclusion of industrial concerns and motivations. It is this gap in horror film history that this collection seeks to address.
