N2 - The main objectives of this chapter are:- to examine the main employment relations features and trends with specific reference to the UK;- to explain the nature of joint regulation and account for its diminished importance as a means of determining the terms of employment relationships;- to identify and evaluate critically the principal managerial approaches employment relations;- to demonstrate the relevance of conflict and cooperation to understanding the management of employment relations in contemporary organizations.
