Promised lands, transformed neighbourhoods and other spaces: migration and the art of display, 1920-1950
Research output: Book/Report › Book
Migration and its aftermath remain among the most striking and con-troversially discussed topics of present and past media. Of particular interest in this respect are the spaces of cohabitation occupied by various groups of people. The representations of these ‘other spaces’ in literature, press, cinema and sound are the topic of the present volume. In eleven contributions, international scholars discuss the challenges of cohabited space during the decades 1920–50 – a period during which modern societies were, for the first time, confronted with the pheno¬menon of ‘cohabitated space’ at large.
