Surface energy characteristics and marine antifouling performance of poly(1H, 1H, 2H, 2H-perfluorodecanoyl diitaconate) film structures

The surface energy characteristics of melt-processed poly(1H, 1H, 2H, 2H-perfluorodecanoyl diitaconate) film structures, as calculated from contact angle measurements on drops of water, diiodomethane and ethylene glycol, have been evaluated at ca. 7-8 mJ m-2. Film structures of this material exhibited limited resistance to colonisation by marine organisms.
