The added value debate

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter (peer-reviewed)peer-review

This chapter addresses the vexing issue of valuing the contribution that the human resource (HR) function adds to an organization. Any function (such as marketing, finance or purchasing) may be scrutinized for its added value, but HR is particularly prone to being questioned, and more so in stringent economic circumstances and contexts. Newer forms of HR delivery, such as the Ulrich Business Partner model, that attempts to move the HR function away from simple transactional function to a business-focused transformational model will also be explored.
