‘When you walk through these doors, you can be anything you want’: authenticity, fantasy and neoliberal ideology in Hotel Babylon
Research output: Contribution to journal › Article › peer-review
The prime-time television drama, Hotel Babylon, now entering its third season on BBC1, is based on a popular book by Imogen Edwards-Jones (2005) about the glamorous lifestyles, and the licentious, crooked and often bizarre behaviour of staff and guests in a five-star London hotel. Jones based her book on information derived from an anonymous source in the luxury hotel industry. 'All of the following is true', the book's cover blurb assures us.
